IF I SHOULD DIE TODAY
If I should die today
Will God receive me into His court,
And will I linger at the back and listen to the talk
Of saints and heroes past,
Of Socrates and Ulysses and Pio and John Dunne?
Then shall I go to my appointed place,
It will be Spring there I hope,
And I will sit upon a mossy bank
And turn my face to the unconquered sun,
I'll caress the delicate blossoms there
Then walk along, then run,
Into the arms of my Beloved One.
